Cooking Measurement Converter
What is Cooking Measurement Converter
A cooking measurement converter turns a recipe volume from one unit into all the others: teaspoons, tablespoons, fluid ounces, US cups, pints, quarts, gallons, milliliters, and liters. Type a number into any field and the rest fill in at once, so an American recipe in cups makes sense to a cook who measures in milliliters, and vice versa.
How to use
- Type a quantity into any field, for example a cup, a tablespoon, or milliliters.
- Read the same amount in every other unit, updated as you type.
- Click the copy icon next to a field to copy that value.
- Click Clear to reset all fields and start over.
When to use it
Following a US recipe that calls for 1 cup of milk but your jug is marked in milliliters? Type 1 into the cup field and you get 236.59 ml, plus 16 tablespoons and 48 teaspoons. It works the other way too, so a 500 ml amount from a European recipe becomes about 2.11 cups without any guesswork.
Frequently asked questions
How many tablespoons are in a cup?
One US cup holds 16 tablespoons, which is also 48 teaspoons or 8 fluid ounces. Half a cup is 8 tablespoons and a quarter cup is 4 tablespoons.
Are these US cups or metric cups?
This tool uses US customary units, so 1 cup is 236.59 ml. If your recipe uses the metric 250 ml cup or the 227 ml UK cup, type your amount into the milliliter field instead to stay accurate.
How many milliliters is a teaspoon?
A US teaspoon is about 4.93 ml and a tablespoon is about 14.79 ml. Many kitchens round these to 5 ml and 15 ml, which is close enough for most cooking but not for exact conversions.
Can I share this tool with my inputs pre-filled?
