Audio Cutter with Waveform
Drag the handles or drag across the waveform to select. Space plays or pauses.
What is Audio Cutter with Waveform
This audio cutter trims a sound file directly in your browser. Upload an MP3, WAV, OGG or M4A, see its waveform, drag the handles around the part you want to keep, preview it, and download the result as a WAV file. Optional fade in and fade out smooth the edges. Everything runs locally on your device: the file is never uploaded to a server.
How to use
- Drop an audio file onto the upload area or click to pick one.
- Drag the handles on the waveform, or drag across it, to select the part to keep.
- Fine-tune the start and end times in the fields, and add a fade if you want.
- Press Play selection to hear exactly what you are keeping.
- Click Cut and download to save the trimmed clip as a WAV file.
When to use it
Need the chorus of a 4-minute song as a 30-second ringtone? Load the MP3, drag the selection over the chorus, add a 1-second fade out and download. The same works for trimming silence off a voice memo, shortening a podcast intro, or pulling one quote out of a long recording, all without installing anything.
Frequently asked questions
Which audio formats can I open?
Anything your browser can decode: MP3, WAV, OGG, M4A/AAC and usually FLAC. The tool reads the file with the browser's own audio engine, so support matches your browser.
Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. The file is decoded, displayed and cut entirely on your device using the Web Audio API. Nothing is transferred, which also means it works on sensitive recordings.
Why is the download a WAV file?
WAV is lossless and opens everywhere, and browsers cannot encode MP3 natively. Your cut is saved without any extra quality loss; if you need MP3, convert the WAV afterwards in any converter.
What do the fade options do?
Fade in raises the volume smoothly from silence at the start of your cut; fade out lowers it to silence at the end. Pick 0.5 to 3 seconds to avoid abrupt clicks at the edges.
Is there a file size limit?
There is no fixed limit, but the whole file is decoded into memory, so very long recordings (hours) can be heavy on phones. Typical songs and voice recordings are no problem.
