Online Instrument Tuner
Allow microphone access to tune your instrument.
What is Online Instrument Tuner
This tuner listens through your device microphone and detects the pitch of a single note in real time. It shows the closest note, its octave and how many cents you are sharp or flat, so you can tune a guitar, bass, violin, ukulele, wind instrument or your own voice straight from the browser. Nothing is uploaded and there is nothing to install.
How to use
- Click Start tuning and allow microphone access when your browser asks.
- Play one string or note at a time, close to the microphone.
- Read the detected note and watch the needle, which centres when you are in tune.
- Adjust the pitch until the cents value reaches zero and the meter turns green.
When to use it
Grabbing your guitar right before rehearsal? Play the low E string and you might see E2 at -12 cents. Tighten the peg until the meter centres on zero, then run through A, D, G, B and the high E the same way. You get a fully tuned guitar in a couple of minutes with no clip-on tuner needed.
Frequently asked questions
Does the tuner work on a phone?
Yes. It runs in any modern mobile browser that can access the microphone. On iPhone and Android, accept the microphone prompt and play a note close to the device.
Why does it need microphone access?
The tuner has to hear your instrument to measure its pitch. The audio is processed on your device and is never uploaded or recorded.
Can it tune a whole chord at once?
No. Like every standard tuner it reads one note at a time. Play a single string or hold one note so it can lock onto the pitch.
How accurate is it?
It resolves pitch to within a few cents in a quiet room. Background noise, a weak microphone or very low notes reduce precision, so play clearly and close to the mic.
Which instruments can I tune?
Anything that produces a clear single pitch: guitar, bass, ukulele, violin, cello, mandolin, wind instruments and the human voice. The reference pitch is A4 = 440 Hz.
