Frequently asked questions
Do these calculators replace clinical judgement?
No. They compute a published score or formula from the values you enter, which is decision support — a fast, consistent second number. They do not see the patient, the full history or the context, and every score has a validated population and known limits. The treating clinician remains responsible for interpreting the result and acting on it.
Which eGFR equation do you use?
The eGFR calculator uses the CKD-EPI 2021 creatinine equation, the current standard, which removed the race coefficient of earlier versions. It estimates glomerular filtration rate from serum creatinine, age and sex. As with any eGFR, it is an estimate that assumes stable kidney function and is less reliable at the extremes of muscle mass.
Is the patient data I enter sent anywhere?
No. Every calculator here runs in your browser and computes on your own device — the values you type are never transmitted to a server. That matters for anything derived from patient data: you can use these at the bedside without the numbers leaving your phone or workstation.
